A little while later, I rejoined the others at the farm. RJ and Chase stood outside, waiting for me.

“You feeling okay?” RJ asked, his eyes trailing my body, then settling to stare at me.

“I feel better than I have for a while, yes,” I replied, holding his eyes.

“We all feel the sadness coming from Juteng. Don’t forget that,” Chase added.

RJ reached for her, and she let him, hopping over onto his shoulder.

“Are we all ready to leave?” I asked, looking back at Chase.

“Yes,” he said. “Everyone is packed. The others are ready to take over. We’re okay to move out, in full.”

“One last practice in the field,” I heard Thacos shouting.

There were many grumbles around the farm, but everyone moved on out into the field, including me. I didn’t want to not be a part of it even if they were just whining.

Thacos smiled at me and asked I join by his side, which I did.

“Thank you,” I said.

“Welcome,” he said. “Now let’s go.”

By the time we moved, we settled and began to process everything. I felt stronger than even earlier. Though I was very tired, I think that was Fatar’s fault.

“You okay?” I asked him.

He lowered his head to me. “Yes. I told her I’d never leave her side and I won’t.”

I smiled at him and moved to Thavan and Ildra.

“If you do need anything,” I said. “Please contact one of the Moeru-Hi.”

Ildra pulled me into a big hug, and I let her. She smelled of fresh bread and cookies, and damn, I was going to miss all of her, of this planet. With deft fingers, she opened my hand, placing a paper bag in them. “For you and Juteng. I know she sneakily took as many as she could every time I baked.”

I laughed at her. “I will not just miss your food,” I said to her. “I will miss all of you. Thank you for being so very kind and welcoming.”

“It’s been my pleasure,” she said and hugged me once more.

Thavan did exactly the same, his squeeze much more powerful though. “If you ever need a rest, or a place to stay.”

“I would come back in a heartbeat,” I replied. “But we both know I will not.”

“Goodbye, Tytan,” he said. “It really has been a pleasure having you and the Moeru-Hi around.”

When we left them for the shuttles, it felt bittersweet. The planet and its energy were strange but also something we’d gotten used to. I
